RHINO’S REVENGE: JOHN ‘RHINO’ EDWARDS
SAVE THE RHINO TOUR – PART II
Rhino’s Revenge will be back on the road again for a brief tour in December, once again featuring guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick and drummer Richard Newman.
In a rare break from his day job as the bass player with rock legends Status Quo, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards has been playing selected shows during 2018 – under the ‘Save The Rhino’ tour banner – with his side band Rhino’s Revenge.
Live dates support the charity and the second Rhino’s Revenge album – 17 years after the band’s debut was released by Eagle Records.
“By any standards, that’s a long time between albums,” says Rhino, “but when you’re fortunate enough to be in a band like Quo, you don’t get too much spare time!”
Rhino’s Revenge is made up from a pool of stellar players, subject to availability, that currently includes Jim Kirkpatrick from FM on guitar and drummer Richard Newman, who has performed with Paul Rodgers, Rory Gallagher, Jefferson Starship, Steve Marriott, Alvin Lee and Glenn Hughes.
Having previously been a member of acts including The Climax Blues Band, Space and Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Rhino was invited to join Quo in 1987 and has been permanent in the line-up ever since.
Rhino will make a contribution from tour profits to Save The Rhino International. “I’ve always loved rhinos,” he says, “and it’s about time I stepped up and did my bit for them.”
